Municipality Begovoe

Coat of arms and flag

Shield: Moscow shape. Party per fess Argent. Chief, Vert. Charge, horse Or courant. Base, Gules. Charge, cart wheel Argent of eight spokes.

The Moscow shape shield is divided horizontally by a silver line. The top field is green and depicts a running horse in gold. The bottom field is red and depicts a silver cartwheel of eight spokes.

The green field symbolises commons and royal orchards that formerly occupied the present-day district. The horse reminds of post-chaise drivers quarter in Yamskoye (from yam, «post house») Field, and symbolises the Central Moscow Hippodrome, to which the district owes its name, derived from bega, «horse racing». The red field symbolises Khodynka Field, where the Moscow garrison camped out every summer since the late 18th century. The wheel stands for Volotsk Road and St Petersburg Highway — presently Leningradsky Prospekt.

The flag of the Begovoi Municipal District is a two-sided rectangle with a 2:3 width to length ratio.

The flag consists of three horizontal stripes — green, white and red. The breadth of the top, green field is 11/16 of the flag’s width; the middle, white 1/40, and the bottom, red 11/60.

Depicted in the green field is a yellow running horse. The size of the image is 1/2 of the flag’s length and 1/2 of its width. The centre is at an equal distance from the side edges and shifted by 1/8 to the top edge from the flag’s centre.

Depicted in the centre of the red field is a white cartwheel of eight spokes. The size of the image is 1/6 of the flag’s length and 1/4 of its width.
