Municipality Ostankinskoe

Coat of arm and flag

Shield: Moscow shape, Azure. Chief, comet of four rays, Argent, its tail crossing the field diagonally. Dexter base and Sinister chief, star Argent of eight rays. Base, palisade Or of eight pikes, with an arch below.

The Moscow shape shield is blue and depicts on the top a four-rayed silver comet, its tail crossing the field diagonally. Left up and right down of it is a silver star of eight rays. Below is a gold palisade of eight pikes with an arch at the base.

The palisade reminds of the Krestovsky tollgate, built on Yaroslavskoye Highway in the middle of the 18th century. Its name was later inherited by a major bridge above the Moscow-St Petersburg railway. The comet and stars reflect local place names dedicated to space exploration — Zvezdny (Star) Boulevard, Space Heroes Alley, Academician Korolev Street and Zander Street. Space rocket designer Sergei Korolev is also commemorated by a memorial flat in the district.

The flag of the Ostankinsky Municipal District is a two-sided rectangle with a 2:3 width to length ratio.

In the bottom of the blue field is a yellow palisade of eight pikes, with an arch cut in its base. The height of the image is 3/8 of the flag’s width.

Above the palisade is a white comet of four rays, its tail crossing the field diagonally toward the top hoist corner. To its sides are two white eight-rayed stars with rays of alternating length. The size of the image is 7/8 of the flag’s length and 1/2 of its width. The centre is at an equal distance from the side edges and 5/16 of the flag’s width off the top edge.
