The Moscow shape shield is divided by a gold diagonal belt, left. The top field is divided by a diagonal, right. The top field is green and depicts a silver pine branch with a cone. The right field is red and depicts a gold halberd, point up. The left field is blue and depicts a pair of compasses in silver.

The gold diagonal symbolises Yaroslavlskoye Highway, the main district thoroughfare. The pine branch on green reminds of carvel pines, in which the locality formerly abounded and which gave their name to one of the district streets. The gold halberd was borrowed from the municipal coat of arms of Yaroslavl, to which the district owes its name. The silver pair of compasses symbolises the Moscow State University of Construction Engineering, based in the district.

The flag of the Yaroslavsky Municipal District is a two-sided rectangle with a 2:3 width to length ratio.

It is divided by a yellow diagonal belt from the top fly corner down. Its breadth is 1/12 of the flag’s width and 1/10 of its length. The top, hoist field is divided in two oblique triangles with the apexes in the centre of the flag. The top field is green. The top flag’s edge forms its base. The bottom field is red. Its base is formed by the hoist flag’s edge. The blue field is a right triangle, whose angle is made by the fly and bottom edges of the flag.

The green field depicts a white pine branch with a cone. The size of the image is 1/3 of the flag’s length and 3/10 of its width. The centre is at an equal distance from the side edges and 3/16 of the flag’s width from its top edge. The red triangle depicts a yellow halberd parallel to the hoist. Its size is 1/8 of the flag’s length and 1/2 of its width. The centre is 1/8 of the flag’s length off the hoist edge and at an equal distance from the top and bottom edges.

The blue triangle depicts a white pair of compasses. Its size is 1/8 of the flag’s length and 5/16 of its width. The centre is 1/3 of the flag’s length off the fly edge and 1/4 of the flag’s width off the bottom edge.
