Symbolism

The green colour of the field and gold shield supporters indicate the Kuzminki estate, a cultural and historical centre of national importance and the area’s principal tourist attraction. Pyotr Klodt’s horse statues fronting the Music Pavilion of the Riding Court and griffin sculptures by the Red Courtyard gates are among the best-known adornments of the estate. The horse also symbolises the equestrian sport centre in the Kuzminki-Lyublino Park.

The three green trees stand for city greenery, for which the area is famous, and the Sadovod market in the southeast of Moscow, which trades in gardening utensils, seedlings, saplings and pets.

The hammer symbolises the area as Moscow’s principal industrial cluster, while the anchor indicates the Southern Port on the Moskva River.

The Lefortovo Park grotto symbolises the Nemetskaya Sloboda (German Quarter), a location abounding in historical and architectural monuments.
