Anthem

My Moscow

I have seen my share of worldly life,
I’ve lived in trenches, in taiga and frost,
I was buried twice before my time,
I’ve known grief in love, and I’ve lost.

But I’ve come to love fair Moscow
And from its streets I shall cry:
My dear capital city!
My Moscow of golden light!

I adore the woods around Moscow,
Its bridges and rolling hills,
I love Red Square in its center
And the chime of the Kremlin bells.

In cities and far-off villages,
For me, you alone will shine:
My dear capital city!
My Moscow of golden light!

We remember that bitter autumn,
With its tanks and its bayonets,
We remember your sons who fought and won
And the glorious hour they met.

And your foes will never conquer you,
Your head will never fall to the side:
My dear capital city!
My Moscow of golden light!
